Method
How to test your TV screen
Turn off picture processing. Temporarily disable motion smoothing, dynamic contrast, noise reduction, sharpness enhancement, and similar processing where practical.
Choose a normal picture mode. Use the picture mode you normally use. For basic inspection, avoid unusual color filters or extreme picture settings.
Use a dark room for black-screen checks. Backlight bleed and other dark-screen issues are easier to see with low ambient light.
Open the tests on the TV or connected device. Use the TV's browser where supported, or connect a computer or compatible device and display the test fullscreen.
Check from normal viewing distance. Inspect the screen from your usual seating position, then move closer when checking pixels or small defects.
Check the entire panel. Pay attention to corners, edges, center areas, and large uniform sections of the screen.
Test different inputs if needed. If the TV is used with a console, streaming device, PC, or set-top box, check the input that matters to you.
Record anything unusual. Take photos or notes before the return period ends if you are testing a new or used TV.

Used TV

OLED and Mini LED TV checks
OLED TVs
Pay particular attention to image retention and possible burn-in. Temporary image retention can disappear, while persistent marks may indicate more lasting panel wear.
Mini LED TVs
Pay particular attention to dark-screen uniformity and visible halos around high-contrast objects. Browser testing can help you inspect these visually, but it cannot measure the TV's local-dimming zone count or blooming performance objectively.
